Getting around Kona, answered
How much is a taxi from Kona airport to Waikoloa?
Metered taxis and rideshare vary widely by time of day and availability. We quote a flat, all-inclusive private rate before you book, so the price on your confirmation is the price you pay.
Is there a shuttle from Kona airport to the resorts?
Shared shuttles exist but wait to fill and then loop several properties, which can turn a 25-minute drive into an hour. Our transfers are private and direct.
Is Uber reliable on the Big Island?
Rideshare works reasonably in Kailua-Kona during the day. On the Kohala Coast, at gated resorts and villas, and after about 9pm, availability drops sharply. Reserve ahead instead.
Do I need a rental car if I book transfers?
For a resort-focused stay, often not. Airport transfers both ways plus a chauffeur for two or three day trips usually costs less than a week of rental and resort parking.
How far in advance should I book?
Two to three weeks is comfortable in peak season. We do take same-day requests when a vehicle is free, but holidays and the winter season fill early.
