The open-air terminal
You deplane by stairs onto the tarmac and walk to an open-air lanai. There are no jet bridges on most gates and no long concourse. It is warm, it smells like plumeria, and it is a short walk to baggage.
Baggage and timing
Bags come out to open-air claim areas. Allow 15 to 25 minutes after landing before you are curbside with everything, longer for oversize items like golf clubs, boards, and dive gear.
Ground transportation
Rental car shuttles, taxis, shared shuttles, and rideshare all stage in marked zones outside baggage claim. Pre-arranged private chauffeurs meet guests curbside on the arrivals lanai with a name board.
Departures
Give yourself real time on the way out. Afternoon and evening banks of mainland flights put a lot of people through a small security checkpoint at once, and the agricultural inspection line is an extra step people forget.
