Do Kona and Kohala Coast Resorts Have Airport Shuttles?

This is the single most common wrong assumption visitors bring to the Big Island. Unlike Waikiki, the Kona and Kohala resorts largely do not run complimentary airport shuttles.

What most resorts offer

Some properties run a limited internal shuttle within their own resort area, connecting towers, golf, and adjacent shopping. That is not airport service. A few will arrange a third-party transfer for you and bill it to the room, which is a private transfer with a markup.

Shared shuttle operators

Shared-ride shuttle companies serve KOA. They are cheaper per seat, wait to fill the van, then run a multi-resort loop. For a 25-minute drive to Waikoloa, expect that to become an hour or more.

What to do instead

Confirm directly with your property, then book a private transfer as the default. Ask your concierge or book direct; either way, reserve before you fly rather than negotiating on the arrivals lanai.

FAQ

Common questions

Does Hilton Waikoloa Village have an airport shuttle?

It does not run complimentary KOA airport service. Confirm current offerings with the property and plan on a private or shared transfer.

Will my resort arrange transportation?

Many will arrange a third-party private transfer and bill your room. Booking direct is usually simpler and clearer.
